worked with Kasler Associates, P.A., and its predecessors in title,
since 1989. The firm of Kasler Associates, P.A. is believed to be the
first New Jersey planning firm to utilize Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) in its planning activity. Jason is highly trained in AutoCad,
ArcCad, ArcGIS 9.3, ArcView 3.3, as well as ArcView’s 3-D Analyst.
Jason is the Director of the firm’s GIS operations and is responsible
for the inclusion of GIS programs in the master plans of Montvale,
Englewood Cliffs, Hackensack, Ridgefield Park, Maywood, Bergenfield,
Bogota, Bloomingdale, Hawthorne, Morristown and Verona. These
community master plan programs are some of the first in New Jersey to
utilize this cutting edge technology. This technology also played
an instrumental part in a study prepared for Orangetown, New York
concerning the reuse of the Rockland County Psychiatric Center.
Jason has provided site plan and subdivision review for planning boards
and boards of adjustment. Through the use of the firm’s GIS
system, Jason Kasler incorporates color aerial imagery, wetland maps, as
well as other environmental information. These
reports provide valuable information and insight aiding the Board
members in their decision making process.
Jason has provided expert testimony before
numerous Planning Boards and Zoning Boards of Adjustment. Some of
his cases included the expansion of a non-conforming use, a use variance
for a hotel, a use variance for a home occupation, preservation of an
historic site, and opposition to a cellular tower in a residential zone.
Jason Kasler has also represented several condominium associations and
houses of worship in land use matters. Jason Kasler has testified
in eight counties including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Somerset,
Morris, Passaic, and Union Counties. Jason Kasler has also
